Nokia was managing multiple rebrands following acquisitions and mergers, including Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks and HERE. The programs covered different types of assets, from 400+ Alcatel-Lucent sites across more than 20 countries to Nokia Siemens Networks’ European vehicle fleet and HERE’s specialist data capture vehicles.
Each program had its own scope, locations and operational requirements. Coordinating delivery across multiple markets and time zones meant finding a way to move quickly without relying on centrally scheduled site visits for every location.
GLIMMA introduced a phased rollout, prioritizing 40 flagship sites, and developed a bespoke online self-survey tool that allowed local teams to provide site information directly. This reduced the need for on-site surveys while giving the central team the information needed to plan the rollout.
GLIMMA managed multiple Nokia rebrands across sites, fleets and markets, combining phased delivery with local input to accelerate implementation.
Three acquisitions, one rebrand program
Nokia needed to coordinate multiple rebrands following acquisitions, including Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks and HERE, with each program covering different assets, locations and requirements.
The scale added another layer of complexity. More than 400 sites across 20+ countries had to be coordinated across multiple time zones, while keeping day-to-day operations running.
The challenge was to create a consistent approach without forcing very different programs into the same model, while avoiding the duplication and coordination overhead of managing each rollout entirely separately.
A phased rollout, with local teams built into the process
GLIMMA introduced a phased rollout, prioritizing 40 flagship sites first, and developed a bespoke online self-survey tool that allowed local teams to provide site information quickly. This reduced the need for centrally scheduled site visits while giving the project team the information needed to plan each location.
GLIMMA’s on-the-ground presence in key markets also helped manage local requirements, logistics and practical challenges as the rollout progressed. Local production reduced shipping distances, while reuse and refurbishment helped avoid unnecessary replacement of existing signage.
Where existing assets could be reused or refurbished, GLIMMA prioritised those options over replacement, reducing material use, cost and the carbon impact of the rollout.

three rebrands at once.

GLIMMA coordinated exterior and interior signage across hundreds of sites, prioritizing refurbishment and reuse of existing assets over replacement for sustainability, and using local production to cut both carbon footprint and manufacturing and shipping costs. The scope extended well beyond buildings: European fleet vehicle rebranding for Nokia Siemens Networks, and more than 100 specialized data capture vehicles rebranded for HERE — including aircraft applications — with turnarounds as fast as three weeks.
Forty flagship sites in two days — the self-survey tool is what removed the waiting, and local production removed the shipping.
The Nokia identity extended to every reception and public space touched by the rebrand.

“Thanks to their on-the-ground presence in key markets, GLIMMA was able to superbly handle the practical challenges.”

Forty flagships in two days.
Across the Alcatel-Lucent rebrand alone, more than 400 sites were rebranded globally, with 40 flagship sites delivered in just two days.
The self-survey tool and the local production model let GLIMMA move fast without sacrificing sustainability or consistency across more than 20 countries.
Prioritizing refurbishment and reuse over replacement kept both cost and carbon down on a program where the default answer would have been to replace everything.

Several rebrands, run as one
Nokia wasn’t managing one rebrand — it was managing several at once, each inherited from a different acquisition, each with different assets and geographies.
GLIMMA’s self-survey tooling and local production model gave Nokia the speed to hit flagship sites in two days and the on-the-ground judgment to handle whatever came up locally, across more than 20 countries at once.
GLIMMA continues to support Nokia in maintaining brand consistency across its global site and fleet network.
