Train rolling stock toilet refurbishment

SNCF

The Challenge

Market research has shown that toilet facilities on trains have a major influence on levels of customer satisfaction for rail passengers. The challenge for SNCF was to maintain standards and control costs when theft and vandalism was causing high levels of damage to the toilets in their carriages.

The Solution

Megamark, GLIMMA's Key Partner in France carried out an initial pilot to prove the approach of using printed, self-adhesive graphics to create a full graphic wrapped toilet in a selection of rolling stock.

Following the great success of the trial, Megamark has now completed the rollout across the TGV and TÈoz fleets, refurbishing over 1,700 on-board toilets in total.

The solution is now being studied closely for implementation by other GLIMMA Partners across Europe.

The Benefits

Since the makeover, vandalism has almost been eliminated from the train toilets.

This outstanding result means that the facilities are staying in good condition for longer leading to significantly improved customer satisfaction and cost savings.

With customer satisfaction up and running costs down, the return on investment has been impressive for SNCF.
